Radiotherapy Physicist – Band 7/8 Contracts offered: fixed term and locum Salary offered: £30,460 – £46,621 pa (fixed term) or negotiable hourly rate for locum. Accommodation available Client has 5 matched Varian linacs, all with OBI, Rapidarc and Respiratory Gating facilities. Treatment planning is performed on Eclipse, with Aria 10 Oncology Management System. The workload includes an established dynamic IMRT programme. There is also a GammaMed HDR brachytherapy unit and a prostate seed brachytherapy practice. A cyberknife arrived last year and client is building up a Stereotactic Service for both intracranial and SBRT treatement sites. Client is planning to begin treating patients with Rapidarc very soon. Radiotherapy Physicists have the opportunity to take part in the whole range of the work of the department including treatment planning, checking, HDR gynae brachytherapy and prostate seed brachytherapy as well as machine QA and dosimetry. The successful candidate will already be a Band 8a physicist looking for a new challenge or someone who is ready to move up and take on more responsibility. Less experienced candidates who have nevertheless gained HPC registration would be considered for appointment at Band 7.
