We are currently seeking enthusiastic band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurses and Registered Learning Disability Nurses.

Permanent, full time position with great salary expectations between £34,000 and £36000 dependent on skills and experience

A vacancy has opened for RMN with our private client within a low secure Mental Health Hospital, based in Ebbw Vale, provides a secure unit for young people up to 18 years old with various degrees of Mental Health Issues.

The role is to provide quality nursing care of the highest standard to our client base.

As a Reregistered Mental Health Nurse:
• you are a registered Nurse (RGN) and have a current PIN with the NMC
• with a specialist qualification in mental Health - foundation degree level or above
• Have extensive clinical experience and a proven track record of working with people living with Mental Health and their families
• Are passionate about developing services for people living with Mental Health and their families
• Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Provision of a safe and secure, but homely environment to all patients and visitors to the unit.
• The hours of work are: covering 7, 12-hour shifts over a two-week period, days and nights.

 To assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised patient care within the multi-disciplinary team.
 To lead the nursing team on a daily basis with support and guidance from the Hospital Manager thus ensuring maintenance of our high standards of care.
 Provision of a safe and secure, but homely environment to all patients and visitors to the unit.
Responsibilities: Clinical
 Assist in the providing, monitoring and supervising quality nursing care.
 Act as mentor to junior staff and students when the need arises.
 Promote good relationships with other members of the team, patient, relatives, visitors and other agencies.
 Communicate effectively with all professions and agencies involved in the care of each patient.
 Ensure the smooth operation of the care team system and actively take responsibility as the key worker for individual patients.
 Undertake all duties as instructed by senior colleagues and ensure junior staff receive adequate guidance in completing their duties.
 Maintain discipline within the clinical area, informing the senior nurse or designated deputy of any deviations from the accepted standards and abide by the client policies.
 Ensure a high standard of nursing care is provided and patient’s rights and confidentiality are safeguarded.
 Deliver and support therapeutic, occupational, educational and recreational activities for all patients on an individual or group basis.
 Ensure staff implement agreed policies relating to nursing procedures.
 Liaise with all professionals and other agencies to achieve optimum levels of care for individual patients.
 Provide clinical advice, supervision and support to other health care workers.
 Assist in the auditing of individual programmes of care on a regular basis.
 Ensure effective handovers and regular staff meetings are held.
 Administer drugs in accordance with agreed hospital medicine policy administration
 Prepare written reports for mental Health Review Tribunals, Hospital Manager Appeals, Care and treatment plan and clinical Reviews.
 Ensure correct implementation of admission, transfer and discharge procedure with specific reference to the management of patient’s property and the requirements of the MHA 1983.
 To monitor ward supplies and order within the Clinic budget.
 Inform staff on a regular basis of any changes, forthcoming events or future developments.
 Abide by legal requirements and statutory rules relating to practice, maintaining current use of MHA 1983 and Children Act 1989.
 Ensure all staff follow legal requirements and statutory rules, including QNIC and Healthcare standards and young people in secure settings 2013
 Accept responsibility for ensuring personal and professional development and competence.
 Maintain standards of conduct in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and Hospital Policies.
 Actively provide supervision for junior staff.
 Actively seek supervision from Senior Nurse or Clinical Team leader. Research and Audit Role
 Assists the Registered Manager in creating an environment that supports evidence-based practice and reflective learning
 Assists the Registered Manager in the dissemination and application of relevant research findings
 Participates in any research initiatives that are undertaken pertinent to the specialty supports the Registered Manager in ensuring that clinical governance is embedded in the team.
