I am searching for a very experienced Complex Trauma Band 7 Physiotherapist for a full time position until at least the end of March.

Job Description
To have professional and legal accountability to the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) ‘Standards of Practice, Health Professions Council Standards of Proficiency, Conduct, Performance and Ethics’, Ministry of Defence (MoD) local policies and tort law in all aspects of practice.
To perform highly skilled and specialised physiotherapeutic assessment of patients referred by the Consultant or Medical Officer (MO) with diverse presentations and complex and chronic physical and psychological conditions and sports injuries. To use clinical reasoning skills to provide an accurate clinical diagnosis.
To use the results of investigations to assist clinical diagnosis and appropriate management of patients.
Dictating admission summaries, review letters and referring to other medical and health care professionals (e.g. GP’s, surgeons, physiotherapists, prosthetists, podiatrists).
To act as an independent and autonomous practitioner in assessing, developing and implementing physiotherapy treatment for specialist caseload. To provide advice within the specialist field to professional colleagues within the inter-disciplinary Team (IDT), where this may involve advising changes to treatment programme/care plans set by others within the IDT.
To formulate, develop and deliver in liaison with the patient, a specialised individualised treatment programme based upon evidence based practice, manual assessment and appropriate clinical reasoning.
To communicate highly complex, contentious and sensitive information effectively to patients that will ensure informed consent for treatment, good understanding of their conditions, and maximise their rehabilitation potential. This information is often sensitive, and highly contentious, and may well have serious ramifications and impact upon their career and continued employment within the military. Additionally, patients may have a barrier to communication e.g. minor brain injury, or English as their second language.
To take the lead in developing protocols to enhance the clinical development and efficacy of clinics and IDT Special Interest Group.
Use complex specialised clinical equipment such as Alter-G treadmill and LASAR posture.
To have effective communication with all other rehabilitation and Unit personnel and with external medical personnel from other agencies/units.
To work as lead physiotherapist in specialist peripatetic musculoskeletal clinics (away from main place of work) where assessment, treatment recommendations, outcome evaluations and prognoses are developed under the lead of a consultant doctor.
To take the lead in implementing both development and change in policy for services and rehabilitation groups and subsequently how clinics are changed and developed. To organise and implement specialist physiotherapy services and management of specialist team/section.
To take the lead in implementing appropriate research and developing evidence based practice within the inter-disciplinary environment.
To take the lead role in multidisciplinary assessment/admission clinics (MIAC) where patients are triaged by the physiotherapist under the lead of a Consultant doctor.
To undertake specialist physiotherapy assessments to support the Consultant doctor in outpatient clinics.
To advise the Consultant or MO with regard to highly specialist physiotherapy recommendations; for example x-ray, MRI investigations.
To manage patient allocation for other physiotherapists within the team.
To manage and prioritise own clinical caseload efficiently and effectively.
The provision of complex clinical reports to supply clinical prognoses and comprehensive discharge planning for both lead consultants and ongoing patient care under other health professionals.
Ensuring that high standards of recording, filing and storage of patient and statistical information are achieved and maintained in accordance with local policy and CSP standards.
To ensure the safety of both patients and therapists and manage clinical risk within the work area in line with policies and guidelines.
To maintain a high standard of confidentiality at all times.
To promote safe patient care through the implementation of the infection prevention and control (IPC) SOP. To advise the Complex Trauma Manager of any IPC risks within their department. To take appropriate action to protect themselves and others from occupational risks relating to IPC.
This post, at the line manager’s discretion, may be required to support off site activities, including adaptive sport and adventurous training, where these form part of the patient’s rehab pathway and treatment goals.
