We are pleased to announce that Sean Nicholson, Physiotherapy Recruitment Consultant based in our Harrogate office not only successfully completed the London marathon, no mean feat! But has managed to raise in excess of £1500 for Disability Action Yorkshire!!!
Sean said: It was the toughest thing I have ever done, but I’m glad I did it. Despite an injury I’m delighted I was able to complete it and raise more than £1500 for Disability Action Yorkshire.
At 17 miles I had a real problem with one of my knees. However, as my mother and partner where at the 22-mile stage, I gritted my teeth and struggled on for another five miles. Then, as the finishing line was just four miles away, this gave me the strength and determination to complete my first ever marathon.
Despite injuring his knee, Sean finished his first ever marathon in 4hrs 20mins.
The money raised by Sean plus a donation from Harrogate's Harlow Lodge means the charity now has enough funds to purchase a new, adapted-vehicle, to transport wheelchair-using residents to and from their Claro Road care home.
Jackie Snape, Disability Action Yorkshire Chief Executive, said: We are indebted to Sean for running the London Marathon on our behalf and raising what he has.
Sean has worked very hard since his being chosen to run for us, and I’m so pleased he crossed the finishing line despite his injury.
Remember, it's not too late to donate! http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/SeanNicholson
